    Hi there,

I’m trying out the free version to see if it’s a fit for a network I’m starting soon and am having trouble getting a basic sync between master site and client.

As per the instructions I’ve created a new syndication user on my site and setup their username / password credentials as the api account details. I’ve also set the url of my master site in the section above but I don’t get any posts and when I try to sync manually I get the error Access denied to server. Your subscription may not be active OR your login details are incorrect.

I’ve double-checked the username / password on the site and also have tried using /wp-admin/ in the url with no luck. Is there something else I’ve missed or is this maybe a 4.7.3 issue? This plugin doesn’t seem to have been updated in quite a while so it’s possible there are additional config items or instructions that are missing from the UI.

I should add – the master site is https://dev.mediamanifesto.com and the child site is https://socialplatform.wpengine.com

I tried buying the pro version to test this and can’t get a connection to work. I get the following message:

`This is a message from your Content Syndication Toolkit wordpress plugin.

There was an error when trying to get new syndication posts from the content creator. All posts in this import will need to be reimported.

Please login to wordpress and make a manual content pull request using the plugin tools under “Settings -> Content Syndication” in the wordpress admin area.

    Here is the error message:

“Problem contacting the server. Please confirm your API Username and Password are correct. Error: transport error – HTTP status code was not 200 CODE: -32300”`

The connection doesn’t seem to work even when doing a manual content pull.

Looks like this plugin is dead in the water.
No response. I also get the above error. Certainly not going to buy the pro version.

    Hi

This issue is always related to hosting settings.

The plugin makes use of the WordPress core xmlrpc API to connect to other sites.

You can Google search the http error code or pass it to your host and let them know that you need to use the xmlrpc API on the master site.

Here is a similar error thread which might help:

I managed to configure that on my host and it was working. There were a couple false positives on the client plugin saying it failed when it actually succeeded because the content of sites’ homepage contained the word “media” but those are easy to resolve / look past.

Overall very happy with the plugin – could use an update since it has been over a year!

    Hi

    Thanks for the update

I’ve released an update for the Pro version recently which addresses the ‘media’ bug.

I will have a new release for the free version ready very soon.

    Thanks again

Same issue but no problem with API, bumped php version as host after searching thought your plugin required php7.1 still no luck.. test posts are uncategorized but plugin set to ‘all wp posts’ so that shouldn’t be the issue… frustrating

The other odd thing is that the test post has duplicated itself under posts on the main wp blog area..? 5-6x Also, should I be seeing that Syndication Groups tab under Posts that is there in the video? I don’t have that…

    Hi Cary

The plugin should not create posts on the master site. This makes me question if your setup is correct.

Install the syndication plugin on the MASTER SITE, that is the site which holds the content you wish to push.

Install the partner syndication READER plugin on any site you wish to pull content from.

Create user accounts on the MASTER for each site you wish to pull content and make sure that their user role is set to synd sub.

Then go to each READER site and setup the reader plugin with the correct URL of the MASTER site as well as the login and password you just created for that site.

The plugin uses the WordPress import/export feature as such content flows OUT of the MASTER site to sites with the READER plugin installed. I honestly can’t see anyway at all the main syndication plugin could ever create content on the MASTER site.

Do you have the READER plugin installed on the MASTER site as well?

Yeah, you were right to question that. I setup an IFTTT applet incorrectly, and it was somehow causing mass reposting of posted blogs on the same site. That is sorted.

I am going to give your plugin another shot here. One issue I had was when my hosting company looked at your plugin and thought that it might require pushing the php ver to 7+ (which then caused issues with other plugins of course) – this should work with php ver 5.6 correct?

What you described above is how I believed I had setup the plugins. I will go in and delete/reinstall and try again. We have three sites that would benefit from the main sites blog content and rather than re-posting to each we want to post it once and have it auto-push to the other two.

    Thanks for the feedback!
