Clicking on a parent block auto-selects the next inner child block

Clicking on a parent block auto-selects the next inner child block. This ‘feature’ (or bug) started after the most recent Gutenberg update. I’ve recorded a video to demonstrate:

My Google-fu has failed me, so I’m coming here as a last resort. Is this supposed to be a feature? A bug? Can I turn it off?
Sometimes the only way to select the parent is to click the parent, let it auto-select the child, and then use the block tape at the bottom to choose the parent manually. It’s incredibly aggravating.
