Yes, featured images are also used in the portfolio mode. But why do you want to wrap these images inside the links inside the post page? It will create a link to the same page where user is.

The thing is im trying to mod the caption size to say 50% of the image, so not all the image is covered when you hover it, and thus the part of the image that is shown is not clickable. Any way to add the permalink to that image?.
