• Hi there,

I use Limit Login Attempts (1.7.1) to stop brute force attacks. It works great.

However, I accidentally locked myself out recently and I cleared limit_login_lockouts option in the wordpress options table as suggested in the FAQ. But, I’m still locked out. I’ve to SFTP in to deactivate the plugin by renaming the plugin file in order to get back in.

I use WP Super Cache to cache my site. But as far I know, wp-login.php isn’t cached. What could be wrong?

    Thank you.

  • Hi.
Instead of renaming the plugin folder, back it up first and then simply delete it altogether via FTP. Just to be on the safe side, delete WP Super Cache as well, make sure you don’t have any other conflicting plugins running and clear your browser’s cache.
After that, you should be able to log in again from wp-login as usual.
