• Hi, thank you for such a great plugin.

My question is: will you put a clear logs button again? Maybe it is not necessary to have all logs in the database…

    Thank you!

  • Hi,

There are no plans to bring back the clear logs button at this time. You can set the number of days to keep log entries in the Global Settings.

Once a day, iThemes Security will automatically clear log entries once they reach the date of expiration.

So, if you set the days to keep the logs to 30, any log entry recorded 31 days ago will be removed.

    Thanks,

    Matt

Multiple requests have been issued from many customers using either the free or pro version of this plugin to bring back the Clear Logs button.

It’s quite a shame that iThemes does not listen to its customers. iThemes has yet to demonstrate why it was removed.

Until iThemes decides to bring it back (think Sales), I highly recommend using the plugin recommended by @lukefiretoss. Very useful and does not impact website speed.

As an option, you can also use a Real Cron instead of WP Cron to clean (or “truncate”) the database tables listed below at the time interval you designate. Click here for details. Method works like a charm for us. Every 12 hours, below tables are cleaned. Our website runs great. No security issues.

The Database Tables that we clean (or “truncate”) every 12 hours are:

    wp_itsec_dashboard_events
    wp_itsec_distributed_storage
    wp_itsec_lockouts
    wp_itsec_logs
    wp_itsec_temp

The Real Cron method may appear a bit complicated at first, but once set up, you’ll be glad you did. It’s a “fire and forget” method that will bring you peace of mind.

    Cheers!
