Clear cache of page on certain days of the week

  • Hi,

    I have created custom shortcode that outputs a different writing on Mondays and Thursdays. the shortcode is used on my homepage, so that every Monday and Thursday there is a new piece of writing on the homepage.

    The problem is W3 Total Cache is caching the homepage and even when the text on the homepage changes on Monday or Thursday, viewers still get to see the old writing.

    Please suggest a fix for this. Is there any way to make W3 Total Cache to rebuild its cache on every Monday and Thursday? Or is there any other alternative.

  • Not sure if you just want the homepage updated or the entire site every Monday and Thursdays so i’ll just assume the homepage only. Are you using page_enhanced caching? You could set up 2 cronjobs that remove the homepage cache only on Mondays and Thursdays, setting up a recache upon the next user visit:

    * * * * 1 rm /wp-content/cache/{your domain}/_index.html*
* * * * 4 rm /wp-content/cache/{your domain}/_index.html*
