Hello – my GT Metrix scores all drop a full letter grade when CleanTalk is deployed. It’s the initial server response, which has to jump over to you first, that is killing performance. Is there any remedy aside from using CloudFlare instead?

    Thanks

We tested the SpamFiraWall feature once again and didn’t find serious issues. We need more data about this. Could you try to deactivate the plugin with the “Complete deactivation” option enabled as I wrote in the previous message? This should rule out one-time issues.

Anyway, we are going to revise the SpamFireWall code. It may take a few days.

    Hi @billium99,

We have finished the investigation. The SpamFireWall brings some delay because of ‘Alternative Cookies’.

Alternative Cookies the plugin uses to be compatible with Varnish. If you know Varnish doesn’t work with native cookies.

We have here two ways to cope the issue,
    1. You can disable cookies at all,
WordPress Dashboard -> Settings -> Anti-Spam by CleanTalk -> Advanced Settings -> Set cookies off.
In this way, you will get not such effective Anti-Spam as it can be, but the perfomance even with turned SpamFireWall on will be Grade A.

    2. You can leave SpamFireWall off. It’s the optional feature of the plugin, that helps mitigate spam when the plugin doesn’t have direct integration with a form. Also it improves site response a bit, but doesn’t improve when Varnish is on.

Please let me know you thoughts, I will appreciate.

    Hello.
We haven’t heard back from you in a while, so I’m going to mark this thread as “resolved”.
If you have any further questions, you can start a new thread or contact us via our private Ticket System: https://cleantalk.org/my/support/open.

I tried every step that was suggested, but still dropped from A to C in GTmetrix.
