Is it ever advisable for me to delete anything from the WP Admin’s Action Scheduler page? My site runs wooCommerce subscriptions and around 1000 subscribers, so it’s always processing people’s renewal payments.

I see that my Action Scheduler has a large amount of records, and I’m just wondering if it would ever be prudent for me to delete any of them (like the failed/complete/cancelled). I assume deleting pending ones would be bad.

    All (12963) | Canceled (104) | Complete (11757) | Failed (147) | Pending (955)

I little web searching didn’t seem to lead me to any particular best practice, and I’m not super keen on installing “cleanup plugins” without being very sure I won’t break anything.

I’d be loathe to discard anything related to payments, at least within some reasonable time period. The time would depend upon any statutory limits related to taxes, audits, and consumer protection in your jurisdiction. Keeping a backup of the data is reasonable, it doesn’t all have to be active data. You’d want to backup before any clean up anyway. Be sure backups can actually be restored. You should also have some logical system for keeping or discarding old backups. As long as it fits within statutory limits you should be good to clean out old and unneeded data.
