Classic Editor – Event date and time fields not showing in Edit event screen.

    Hi,

    I have just done some WP system and plugin updates and I’m having an issue with the event Date and time fields showing in the Edit Event screen. The field is not there, so I can’t edit the date and time of the event. I have checked screen options and all the fields are enabled.

    I am using Classic editor plugin as this is essential for my theme, which uses SiteOrigin pagebuilder.

    When I deactivate Classic Editor plugin I see the date and time fields.

    I have tried deactivating all plugins except TEC, Event tickets and Classic Editor and the issue still occurs. My WP system and all plugins are up-to-date.

    I have checked the sale end date and all fine. This might be a separate issue but I figured it might be related.

    Any ideas on what could be wrong would be much appreciated.

    Thanks for getting in touch, and I’m sorry to hear about your experience. Let’s see if we can get that sorted out.

    Please could you to Events > Settings > General tab > and uncheck “Activate Block Editor for Events” if you haven’t already. Here’s a screenshot of the setting: https://share.getcloudapp.com/X6u8P6JK

    Don’t forget to click on Save settings.

    If what I’ve suggested doesn’t work, please could you provide a video recording or screenshots so that I’ll have more context on your situation, and see if I can replicate it.

    That’s great – it’s fixed the back end editor and the display of tickets front end.

    For my own understanding – is this something new in the TEC plugin/the interaction with WordPress and gutenberg that has changed? I may need to check a few other website that use TEC & Classic editor!

    Thanks for taking the time to report this and confirming the suggested workaround fixes the problem.

    Unfortunately, I can confirm this was caused by the compatibility work we’ve recently added for the Classic Editor plugin.

    To clarify, the issue only happens when the following combination of settings are present:

    • Default editor for all users (Classic Editor setting): Classic Editor
    • Allow users to switch editors (Classic Editor setting): Yes
    • Activate Block Editor for Events (Events setting): Enabled

    We’ve logged an internal bug report for this. We’ll notify you of a fix once it is released in a future version of our plugin.

    Please make sure that your plugins are updated to the latest version.

    It seems like this thread gone quiet, and there are no further activities. We assume that this is already fixed or no longer applicable. I would mark this as resolved for now.

    We wanted to let you know with our latest release of The Events Calendar 5.14.2, we’ve addressed this issue and improved the compatibility with the Classic Editor so that the date and time metabox appears as expected. Be sure to review our Release Notes for more details and update your plugin at your earliest convenience.

    As always, we recommend testing updates on a staging site first, and having a recent backup, but it should all be smooth sailing.
