Clarifying the language on the form

I have a suggestion for improving the following instructions:
Notify me of followup comments via e-mail. You can also subscribe without commenting.
This breaks one of the rules of clear writing: unity of pronouns. In the first sentence ‘me’ refers to the reader; in the second setence ‘you’ refers to the reader. Just to make it more fun, the whole form is preceded by “Your email is never published nor shared.”. So the reader has to flip between understanding herself first as ‘you’, and then ‘me’, and then back to ‘you’ again. Confusing.
Is there a way I can change this on my own blog? Also, I think the plugin would be improve by changing it for all blogs that use it. Here is a humble suggestion; I’m sure it could be improved:
