I am trying to polish the translation of the string: Enable the Telemetry Tracker
The problem is, I’m not totally sure what this feature does?

Does it only gather all information that is sent to third parties? And what is considered all in this case?

    OR

Does it also gather information about user that is stored on the server but not sent?

    AND

Is the gathering only linked to cookies or does it also track outgoing information that is collected by other means (e.g. user filling out some form)

If I would translate this in a way that would mean: Enable tracking of information that is sent to third parties. Would that be accurate?

    Hi @tt74,

WordPress and some plugins (especially premium plugins) collect data about how you use it. WordPress, for instance, sends data to their servers when checking if an update is available. This data can contain a lot of stuff like the theme you are using, the plugins, versions, language, etc…

Premium plugins do the same, god knows what data they collect without your knowledge. Some free plugins also do that, even if it is not allowed by the Plugin Guidelines.

This telemetry tracker listens to connections made to servers that are not yours and show you what data is being sent.

Regarding users, if you make an API call to MailChimp with the user email, the telemetry tracker will see that and flag it for you if you have it enabled.
