CiviCRM plugin issue with Yoast SEO
-
Hi –
We run the CiviCRM plugin on a number of sites, and have noticed a problem when running it alongside Yoast SEO.
CiviCRM creates a number of “virtual” pages on a WordPress site using a single “base page”, usually just called “CiviCRM”. CiviCRM itself hooks in to the Page Title tag creation in WordPress to replace the “CiviCRM” Page Title tag with a more helpful Page title (i.e. the name of the event being displayed etc.) depending on what content CiviCRM is displaying on the base page.
However, when Yoast SEO is enabled, it turns the Page Title tag back to the default Page title “CiviCRM”. So, with Yoast enabled, all virtual pages created by CiviCRM have the Title tag “CiviCRM”, which is not ideal.
What’s the best way to either exclude a particular page in WordPress from the Yoast Page Title overwrites, or another way to prevent Yoast rewriting the page title of this particular page?
This has been tested with latest version of CiviCRM and Yoast SEO plugins.
