Citations and footnotes

This will sound odd . . .

Does anyone know of any (simple) way to reference information in a post by hyperlinking other than a web page

. . . told you!

For instance: a hover over link producing a pop-up text box of some sort that stayed open until the mouse was moved again. Or, a to another post that could be written simultaneously – ie a “project” of posts!
