We would like to use this for our church directory and wanted to verify the best way to add members. I have the directory page set to
[connections list_type=’family’] with the assumption that I will have to create family records for everyone, including individuals that are not part of a Family group. Is this “double entry” method the best way or is there a simpler way to create a directory that lists by family but also includes individuals that are not in a family group? Thanks

This is the only way to create families. I do not get very many requests surrounding the family feature so I really haven’t invested time in making creating families easier.

I’m considering moving my church’s Joomla website to WordPress, and am also looking for a plugin that will handle family directory listings. With Connections, can individuals within families have separate profiles? And if so, are they linked to the family so that if contact info changes for the family, it updates contact info for all individuals in the family, as well?

    Thanks!

All family members are actually individual entries. They are linked together as a special “Family” entry type.

What many users do is enter individual specific info for the individual and then in the “Family” entry add the address and other common info that all entries share. That way you would only need to edit the family entry and not the individuals. This common info would not be displayed if you display a single individual from a family. It only shows when showing the family. Most users simply just show the family entries. I hope that makes sense and helps!@
