• Chrome has stopped displaying web pages like it used to.

Last year, if I simply put the URL of one of my own blog posts in a page via the Classic Editor text input mode, then I would get a block with the post’s featured image and the first few words of the text.

This year, having updated WordPress to the latest version, this doesn’t happen – in Chrome. Firefox displays the block with image and text fine; Chrome simply displays the Heading text.

By the way, if I update the page, the the next time I display it in Chrome, the block-plus-image is visible; but if I leave the page and go back, the block-plus-image is no longer there – just the heading text.

What can I do to make Chrome display the same way as it used to and that Firefox still does, please? I have screen captures if there’s any way to share them.

    Many thanks,

    Steve

  • I do not see any differences on the two browsers.

    Chrome

    Firefox

    Wow! That’s interesting – thanks.

Could I ask a favour, please? Could you go back to swpics.co.uk in Chrome and tell me whether it still displays OK for you?

If it does, then the problem is something to do with Chrome specifically on my internet setup, as it’s the same for PC, phone and tablets.

    Many thanks,

    Steve

    Steve,

The display is consistent for me on the desktop. On mobile however, it does not display images in Chrome but it does in Firefox.

Ah, thanks, that’s helpful to know. I’ll see if anyone else has got other observables that might help ,e debug this pesky problem!
