The problem is CSS related.

1. In IE9 and above, and Chrome, and firefox, your talbe looks all the same, which is chessboard like pattern, but in IE7 and IE8, it looks just like you desired. To achieve a consistent appearance like background alternated columns, you could use the following Custom CSS, or amend it to fit your purpose:

.tablepress-id-1 .column-1,
.tablepress-id-1 .column-3 {
background-color:#ddd
}

This will change the background color to #ddd of column 1 and 3 in your TablePress table of id 1.

2. Each img in the cell all has a statement of
class="align:center size-full wp-image-3552"
except for the cell you mentioned. The statement of that cell is
class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-3552"
So, the img in this cell is not acting like other images. My recommendation is that remove all the class statements for the image.

3. Then, if you want the image in cell to align to center and text align to left, I would recommend the following trick: enclose the image part in a div and style it. For example:

<div class="img-in-cell"><a></a></div>

And then give the class .img-in-cell the following css rules:

.img-in-cell {
width:100%;
text-align:center;
}

I’m not sure if my solution is the best, but it’s harmless to give it a try.

I have just one addition to 3.:
You don’t really need to add that extra <div> tag here, but can simply center all cells directly (as all cells seem to contain an image):

.tablepress-id-1 th,
.tablepress-id-1 td {
  text-align: center;
}

If you simply center all cells directly, the text descriptions below each image in each cell would align center, too. But your solution is an better alternative for this problem. Thank you!
