Not sure if this is a Chrome issue, Google issue, WordPress issue, or WooCommerce issue but . . .

I like Chrome’s address bar site search feature (where you enter the site URL, e.g., johnrothra.com, press the space bar, and then it lets you search the site. However, whenever I try it for my site, it doesn’t search the site, but only the WooCommerce store.

For example, I tried searching the keyphrase “social ministry” using the address bar site search method and by using Google search. In theory, both should pull up similar content, especially my blog article specifically about that topic. However, one searched only the store, the other searched the entire site.

Below are two screen shots and a video capture. The screen shots show the results of each type of search, the video shows me doing each type of search.

    Google Search Results:

How do I get the address bar site search to search the entire site, not just the store?

    Hi there,

That’s a Chrome issue. When entering “johnrothra.com social ministry” on my Chrome, I’m redirected to Duck Duck Go search results because that’s the default search engine I’m using in this instance of Chrome. In short, it’s entirely dependent on the browser settings from what I can see.

Sounds like your test didn’t use the address bar site search feature (method one in the video), but the standard search engine search (method two in the video).

When I use method one on other sites with blogs and WooCommerce stores, it searches the site, not the store. If it was merely a Chrome setting, I would expect the behavior to be consistent.

Hi @jrothra. This is definitely a Chrome setting. You can check the search queries used by going to chrome://settings/searchEngines?search=manage+search in Chrome.

I’m going to go ahead and mark this thread resolved but if you have a question about the WooCommerce plugin, please start a new thread.
