• Is it important to choose the right type of permalink structure?

How can I find out which is the right permalink structure to use for my site?

Can I change this whenever I want to or do I have to choose right from the beginning?

I’ve moved this from Everything else WordPress as it’s not that sort of topic.

    Not really.

Pick whatever you like, you can always change it back at anytime.

The Day and Name option is rather popular:

    (site)/2017/11/05/sample-post/

or if you chose the custom option to do the same thing:

    (site)/%year%/%monthnum%/%day%/%postname%/

I think WordPress will automatically redirect to whatever method you pick if someone uses a link in a previous format.

Ok. But you can’t write manual links. They won’t automatically change like the rest of the internal wordpress links created by wordpress when you change the permalink structure.

If you write a manual link you use the permalink structure that is activated at the time being. When u change the permalink structure this link will still have the format of the past permalink structure.

Or is there a way to get around this problem?
