    I just updated the theme I was using, called choco theme. And now my entire wordpress installation is broken. I can’t even log into wp-admin to switch the theme out. When you go to my site:

    https://www.bryanfusilier.com

    You get the following error messages:

    Warning: include_once(lib/theme-options/theme-options.php) [function.include-once]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/content/f/u/s/fusilierb/html/bryanfusilier/wp-content/themes/chocotheme/functions.php on line 14

    Warning: include_once() [function.include]: Failed opening ‘lib/theme-options/theme-options.php’ for inclusion (include_path=’.:/usr/local/php5/lib/php’) in /home/content/f/u/s/fusilierb/html/bryanfusilier/wp-content/themes/chocotheme/functions.php on line 14

    Fatal error: Class ‘wp_option’ not found in /home/content/f/u/s/fusilierb/html/bryanfusilier/wp-content/themes/chocotheme/options/theme-options.php on line 15

    I have a ton of content on this site that I’m scared to death of losing. It’s hosted on godaddy and their support says I have to uninstall wordpress and re-install it, which will erase the last year of work I’ve done.

    Any ideas on how I can at least get back into the admin section to dump this corrupt theme?

    If that is ALL that happened before you lost the site, you don’t loose content just by breaking a theme. And it does not require reinstalling wordpress. Use your ftp client or file manager to rename or delete the theme. WordPress should then fall back to the default theme. You can then just log in and replace the offending theme with a copy from your last backup.

    I agree with ClaytonJames. Sometimes Tech Support reps tell you stuff just to get a sale (i.e. you paying them to re-install WP). They tell you this, but re-installing is not necessary if the theme is broken. As he mentioned, just delete the theme and either reinstall it, or get a new one that works. You can backup all of your data onto a flash drive or your computer before you make any changes via the FTP client.

    *Log into your GoDaddy hosting account
    *scroll down to where it says “content” and expand it
    *the FTP client is in there. You can move your files from the server (on the right) to your computer (on the left) by selecting your wordpress folder, and clicking the little arrows.
    *once you’ve done that, goto “my applications”
    *click on the domain that has WP installed and get the installation details
    *it will then allow you to uninstall it
    *then reinstall it again

    if you have any trouble doing this, the GoDaddy support pages should be of some help or call them back up. They’re great people.

    Thanks so much all!!! I renamed the theme using ftp and it did indeed default back. I’m back in business. I can’t thank you enough!
