Chinese wp.org copy > Phishing?

    Hi Overthere,
    just found my user-page from wp.org on [ deleted, don’t post spam links here please ]

    Is this legit or is this part of malware e.g. phishing-attempt?

    It’s not phishing exactly, it’s just another one of the hundreds of reverse proxy copies for these forums. It’s not a copy, they pull down the assets from this site and present it there. This has been going on for at least a dozen years. Probably more. The setup for that is less than 10 minutes and less than 10 lines of Apache2 config.

    Copies like that have nothing to do with www.remarpro.com. No one from here has anything to do with that site.

    Yes, it’s questionable. Yes, no one should attempt to log into those as that’s bad.

    Thx a lot for the technical explanation. And there’s no way to shut them down? Weird nowadays.

    They’re just reading the forums like any client or web browser. We can’t block that and this pops up a lot.
