• Hey just wanted to know how to create a chiletheme to back up my website for when i make changes in the editor. My host is ipage and i am using 2011 theme. Not too sure how to do it???

I know i have to put a style.css file in it but not too sure how to do it and ipage were not really sure what i was trying to tell them about childthemes in my ftp.

Does it go in ftp or file manager?..How do i transfer my stlye.css & any other templates? Is it just copy & paste?

Lastly, how do I activate it as a childtheme on my site so i can start to make changes?

I have, I don’t understand how to do it that’s why I’m asking for help with my ipage ftp, if anyone knows?

If you need assistance with your FTP, your hosts are the best people to ask about it.

I have, they don’t know how to create a child theme. It would be so helpful if someone actually knew and could talk me through what I need to do

All of the instructions on how to create a child theme are on the page I linked to above. There is no point in us simply repeating them here. If you have a problem with a particular step, then please indicate which step it is.

I have created a new file in my file manager, named it 2011childtheme..copy & pasted my stlye.css into it but do not know if that’s correct as:

‘The child theme contains a “Template: parent-theme-dir” header to distinguish it from standalone themes’

Mine doesn’t have that and under websitename/wp-content/themes/2011/..there is no 2011childtheme

so not too sure what to do or if I’ve missed something

Is the file a style.css file? Does it have the comment block at the top as outlined on the Child Themes page of instructions? Is it inside it’s own folder? Does this folder have its own unique name? Has the folder & all of its content been uploaded to wp-content/themes?
