Childing this theme

Hi,

I normally use Orbisius Child Theme creator plug in to make a child theme for my WordPress templates, however because it says Cubic is already a child theme, does this mean if you update the template, it won’t affect my site? Or do I need to do something else to turn this ‘child’ into another ‘child’?
