• So, I’m really new at this WP stuff. But I’m giving it a go because I know a bit about code and html and such, and I can usually figure this stuff out. But apparently with this child theme, I can’t.

    I’ve followed the instructions and via my host site created the retro-child folder within themes. And then I created the style.css sheet. THat was all easy.

    Then, I put this on the style sheet:

    /*
    Theme Name: retro-child
    Template: retro
    */

    @import(‘../retro/style.css’);

    Note, when I first was doing this I had the r capitalizes and it came back as broken. So I did the little r, and it’s not broken. But. Now, there is no formatting whatsoever.

    This is my website: https://lostandfoundinfiction.com/

    what am I doing wrong here? ANy ideas? I’ve searched at least 5 other tutorials and I seem to be hitting all the steps. I’m trying not to get frustrated b/c I don’t want to give up and go back to blogger, but yeah, I have no clue what I’m doing wrong.

    Any help is appreciated!

    Also: I looked in the parent folder and on the original style sheet retro is capitalized. However, when I capitalize it in the child theme, it says child theme is broken. So, I don’t know. Maybe it has something to do with that?! *headdesks*

    Try this

    @import url(‘../retro/style.css’);

    OMG that worked! I did the change and then cleared cache…and YAY! Thanks so much. You saved me from totally giving up on this WP switch I’m making and going back to blogger. ??
