Child theme not formatting

Hi Guys,
I have created a child theme for new website the child theme installs into the themes page no problem but removes all the formatting from the 2016 parent theme when I look at the site.

I have made a directory in the themes folder called twentysixteen-child

I am using the @import url (“../twentysixteen/style.css”); to bring in the parent theme in but it doesn’t get applied. Can someone tell me what I am doing wrong here.
