• Hi, hope you will be able to help.
I have created a Child template of Spun following the instruction in the www.remarpro.com codex.

When I go to my dashboard, Appearance, themes, I cannot find it to activate it. Any ideas?

    Are you working locally?

no – Ive just asked my daughter to look at the site from her phone (its running in the parent template)

Im beginning to think it might be in Appearance and I just cant see it…! Im looing for spun child with or perhaps without a picture. The current page shows spun as the active template with available templates being the Twenty range, and suffusion

    This path:

    C:\Program Files\wordpress-3.6\wordpress\wp-content\themes

Is not where your website resides, it’s only local to your machine.

Your website will probably on the server of the hosting organisation you pay for – which has nothing to do with your local machine path (above).

What looks like the issue is that you’re not transferring your Child Theme to where your website files really reside (on the server). You need to do this through FTP.

    Thanks
I spoke to them yesterday as I had installed their holding page. I was advised to change the index.html file to my domain name.

This is working on the current template as the changes I have been making have shown up on my daughter’s phone. So is it that there is no path for the new file structure (spun child) to get to?

Looks like another call the them.
Thanks for all your help … a real problem solver !!

So, just thinking… if I go back into the host FTP file manager, change the domain name (executable) file back to index.html then cahnge it back to my domain name… will that pick up the newly written file?

ok…. I tried the above but it must be other files that are required to be uploaded probably those with a .php extension.

I’ll talk to the web host

    Thanks again for your help

No, you only need to upload the folder that contains the style.css file. Where is your site hosted?

No, you just need to use FTP to upload the file to the theme’s folder:

    wp-content
        themes
           spun
spunchild (PUT THE NEW FOLDER IN HERE)

Are you using FTP – like FileZilla?
