    I am sure I am missing something very simple, but I am not experienced and have been investing HOURS in trying to make simple changes in my site. I want to make a child them but after trying to carefully follow the instructions on creating a child theme, I end up with a page that inherits all the Pieces of my site without the formatting. It all appears in the page in a straight line down the page.

    Here is the style.css I have used in my child folder called “modularity-child”. It is the only file in the folder.

    /*
    Theme Name: Modularity Child
    Description: A multimedia child theme framework for WordPress by me
    Version: 1.01
    Tags: photography, one-column, two-column, theme options, minimal, widgets, white, portfolio, video, framework
    Author: Ron Clifford
    Author URI: https://ronclifford.com/about/
    Template: modularity
    */

    @import url("../modularity/rtl.css");

    I hope you can help

    I ended up re-installing modularity after installing another theme and presto! it worked. The Child theme installed without a problem..My other installation was obviously corrupted somehow. Now I have to add back widgets and begin customizing!
