    Hello,
    I created a child theme for my website using filezilla as the ftp. When I first uploaded the file I could see the new theme in the dashboard, but, when I activated it. I got a long error message and I cant login in anymore either

    /*
    Theme Name: InfoWay Child
    Theme URI: https://example.com/
    Description: New theme for chocolate chicken
    Author: vookee
    Author URI: https://example.com/about/
    Template: infoway
    Version: 1.1.4
    */

    @import url(“../infoway/style.css”);

  • Did you put a copy of the functions.php file in the child theme? That will do it :).

    At any rate, the way to get out of this is to use FTP to change the name on the child theme folder – which will force WP to use the default theme – and then you should be able to login again. Presumably you still have twentytwelve theme in the themes folder?

    @ WPyogi I don’t think I did add the functions.php but I am so new who knows..lol I changed the folder name and nothing happened. The url is chocolatechicken.ca if you would like to see the error. Thanks for your time too!

    Ah, that’s a problem with infoway theme itself – so try changing the name on that folder too.
