Child Theme Customizer

  • Hi, I need to create a child theme in order to use this theme but cannot get the Customize page within WordPress to work once it is active (all other themes I have tried work fine with the customizer, it is just Newscrunch which doesn’t). Is there something else I need to add to the child theme from the main theme to get the customize options to show, please?

    I am using PHP 5.6.36 with WP 6.2.4

    Thanks for contacting us. We have created child of NewsCrunch and tested the customizer settings, which are working fine. See the screenshot of the csutozmizer settings .

    I think you missed something at your end, To create child theme download and install the Child Theme Configurator plugin .

    I cannot use Child Theme Configurator as it will not run with my PHP version (5.6.36) and I cannot update my PHP due to software conflicts on other parts of my site. I’ve looked for 2.5.7 for the plugin which should work with my PHP but not found it to download.

    I created a child theme for Newscruch with only the very basic information included within the CSS file (via FTP), but the customiser still will not work in WP and I get this error message emailed to me:

    Error Details ============= An error of type E_ERROR was caused in line 29 of the file ####/wp-content/themes/newscrunch/inc/customizer/settings/general-settings.php. Error message: Call to undefined function newscrunch_about_page()

    What does it mean?

    You can use another wp-child-theme-generator plugin to create a child theme.
