• https://clydeholler.net/ Using a child of WordPress TwentyTen with “Home” as the static homepage. I created a page “About Me” and set it as a child of “Home” but the page only appears in the top menu.

In the Dashboard > Pages… “About Me” appears as a child of “Home” and the URL in the location bar shows it as a child of “Home” as well. I tried making it a child of another page and it worked that way. Just won’t work as a child of “Home”…

When I activate the unedited TwentyTen theme the problem persists. Any clues as to why a child of “Home” won’t work properly in the TwentyTen theme?

Since I have to turn the site over to the owner, it should work so that he can add pages with ease. That is why I don’t want to get into custom menus or menu plugins.

    Please help fix this problem!

  • Home is not a physical page, but instead a link to your homepage which is just linked to index.php

Unless you create a page called ‘Home’ and assign it as the static homepage, you wont be able to assign child pages to it.

It all may be coming clear.

So… Once the site is set up with “Front page displays:Your latest posts” the top menu will always be incapable of displaying children under the page called “Home”. Something like that?

I took the site over from the owner and he had already used it get something started. I changed Reading Settings to “Front page displays: A static page > Front page: Home”.

Due to the sequence of creation and modification, I am unable to have a child even there even though it appears as a child in the Pages list and the URL of the intended child indicates that it is indeed a child of “Home”? Is there a way to regain control of that process?

I took a different route with my issue but remain interested in this dilemma.
