Child Events not working as expected

I have blog post for a series of workshops and would like a child events for each workshop. I have run into a couple problems:
First, when I click on “Add child event,” I can add one, but it has the same title as the blog post (I’d rather have a new title with the specific workshop) and I can’t edit it. I’ve remedied this by clicking “add” after clicking “add child event” and then I can add a child event which has its own title (it isn’t intuitive, and I’m not sure it is supposed to work this way). I’d like to be able to link the child event to the original blog post- which has instructions for registering, etc. but there is no way to get from the child event page above to the event page.
And finally, the list and calendar views are showing the child events, but the calendar view has a link that leads to the child event page (which doesn’t have a body and doesn’t reference the event page), and the list view links to #event_list1 of whichever webpage I’m viewing it from.
Am I doing something wrong/ not understanding what child events are for, or are these issues a bug?
