I am creating a simple store for a client who buys things from us. They want their locations to be able to buy things, see prices etc but not pay at checkout. They want us to invoice them from Quickbooks like we do for our labor billings etc. How can this be done?

  • Dashboard > WooCommerce > Settings > Payments
    and choose “Cheque payments”

On the Cheque payments setup screen, set a new title: “Payment by invoice”. The client will not see the word cheque.

Thank you. I didn’t even think about that when I was on that page. Do you know what will happen if I don’t change the status of the orders to paid or in process of whatever it is? Will that cause a problem?

You’ll want to keep track of who has paid or not. You can do that in your accounting system, in some spreadsheet or in WooCommerce.

If you don’t change the status to paid in WooCommerce, it will have the wrong information and you’ll need to rely on your other system. Maybe that would cause some confusion inside your business, for instance if someone deputises for you.

If you allow your clients to see their my-account page, their order may show “on hold” even after they have paid, so that could upset them and generate a query. If you don’t show the my-account link, that won’t be a problem.
