Additionally, I noticed some errors in the browser console, creating the infinite loading spinner issue.

This kind of problem is usually caused by a conflict with your theme or with another plugin. The best way to determine this is to:

Temporarily switch your theme to Storefront
Disable all plugins except for WooCommerce
Repeat the action that is causing the problem
Clear site and server cache.

If you do not see the same problem after completing the conflict test, then you know the problem was with the plugins and/or theme you deactivated. To determine which plugin is causing the problem, reactivate your other plugins one by one, testing after each, until you find the one causing conflict. Hey, thank you so much for the help! ??

Unfortunately, neither the suggestions on the website nor switching off the plugins worked…

What I tried so far:

deactivate EVERY plugin except for WooCommerce (no change, still the loading circle)
clear cache and site cache (I usually do this very time I change sth, so I also did it when troubleshooting before I wrote here; also no change unfortunately)
Tried the Live-Preview of other themes such as “Twenty-Twenty-Four” and “Twenty-Nineteen”, the last one I could test with the cart and the circle was still there! So it might be neither a plugin nor a theme? Is that even possible? Or is the Live-Preview not as accurate and I should activate the theme completely?
Tried looking into the “storefront” theme. Unfortunately when clicking on “Live-Preview” for this theme, my website crashes, so I was naturally a little cautious and did not activate the theme yet.
rollback woo commerce to up to five versions prior, no change.

Unfortunately I have no idea where to search for what now. Is there anything I’ve missed?

Previewing theme won’t give you the real results, you need to activate it.

Hi, I have the same issue and also wnet through on the trouble-shooting steps – like deactivating the plugins , changed the theme- the result is the same. I’ll start a new issue so there I’ll add more info.

Hello again and thanks Magda for your input! I will follow your topic with great interest, as I think the core might be the same.

Again, here is another part of

What I tried so far (and didn’t work):

Switched completely to storefront (site looks ugly now, but surprisingly not that different to what I had before… maybe I should rethink my design choices)
Deactivated all plugins except for Woocommerce and CacheEnabler (Had to clear the cache somehow)
deactivated PayPal, so only bank transfer was possible and shown at checkout
Cleared the Cache of Site and Website

Unfortunately, as stated before: the issue remains. There is, even with the new theme and zero additional plugins, still the same problem.

I will now go back to my old theme.

I read on Magdis topic, that maybe reinstalling WordPress from the ground might be a good idea. When I go to Dashboard > Updates, there is a button that states “Version 3.4.3-de_DE erneut installieren” (reinstall version 3.4.3-de_DE). Is that the right one? And is there anything I have to pay attention to? Or just wait and let it do its thing? Have only updated WordPress once and am just a little scared of doing so still ??

I also went over all the tips given on the Woo documentation-site.

the system status shows everything is fine. So no deeper problem noticed here
The two URLs match, no differences
when looking at the XHR when at checkout, there is a failure to load the Ressource. Instead of HTML or JS it just shows “Beim Laden der Ressource ist ein Fehler aufgetreten” (An error occurred while loading the resource) in big red letters
The console goes more into detail, stating: “[Error] Failed to load resource: the server responded with a status of 500 () (brixxyshop.com, line 0 – https://brixxyshop.com/?wc-ajax=update_order_review)”
Also, a second detail stated: “[Warning] Missing data from PHP (wpNotesArgs). (admin-bar-v2.js, line 1)”

Might you (or someone) be able to explain what that means exactly? I searched the web and wasn’t able to find something as of now.

Can you please go to your WooCommerce > Settings > Advanced > Features > Order Attribution, and disable this option to test if this solves the issue?

Thanks for trying and sharing additional details. The fatal error log you have shared has two issues:

The first error concerns a missing file in your WooCommerce plugin directory. This could be due to an incomplete or corrupt WooCommerce installation. To resolve this, you could try reinstalling your WooCommerce plugin. Before doing so, please ensure you have a complete website backup.
Another error is related to Storefront theme. It’s attempting to assign a default property on null. However, since this is not your active theme, you may ignore it or perform a conflict test.

As explained previously, to fix the issue on your site, you can run a conflict test to help identify the cause of the issue.

Disable all plugins except for WooCommerce
Temporarily switch your theme to Storefront
Repeat the action that is causing the problem

If you do not see the same problem after completing the conflict test, you know the problem was with the plugins and/or theme you deactivated. To determine which plugin is causing the problem, reactivate your other plugins one by one, testing after each until you find the one causing the conflict. You can find a more detailed explanation on how to do a conflict test here.

Thank you for your help.

I just completely deinstalled and deleted the WooCommerce-plugin and then reinstalled it. Even though I did the conflict test two days ago, I repeated it just now and… nothing! No change at all!

At the moment only WooCommerce (the newly installed version) is active, with no additional plugins. My Site runs on the Storefront theme and still the checkout is not available. Is there anything I am missing?

There is one console failure when loading the site, the same as last time: “Failed to load resource: the server responded with a status of 500 () (“https://brixxyshop.com/?wc-ajax=update_order_review”)

Also, the XHR still has the problem to load the resource. I looked further into it and it seems to be a problem in “query.min.js.3629” with this code:

r.send(i.hasContent && i.data || null)

And another failure in “admin-bar-v2.js” with this code:

IT. IS. SOLVED. ??

I just solved the issue by reinstalling WordPress from the dashboard. It seems there were some problems in the core files and this just silently reinstalled them.

I am crying in joy, but also hate that I didn’t try it sooner!

For anyone reading this having the same problem: Make sure you have a backup of everything on your site before performing the reinstallation. You are most likely not going to need it, only if sth goes wrong. Then go to Dashboard > Updates and click on “reinstall version x.x.x-xx_XX” (“X” being a placeholder for numbers and country).

unfortunately… this one was temporary. It worked for about 3 hours, some orders got in and then…. boom. back to the good ol’ infinite loading. I tried the same but it did not work again. Even tried putting WooCommerce back one version with Rollback before… not a chance.

It seems to me that there is a plugin (seemingly not WooCommerce) that DELETES a file leading to the infinite spinning circle.

EDIT: Unfortunately it had nothing to do with Jetpack (the plugin). I uninstalled it, tried everything again (including reinstalling WordPress and deleting and reinstalling WooCommerce)… nothing. Reinstalled Jetpack.

The bad thing: Today another error has added to the existing one: I am no longer able to put in orders manually. The add-order-page itself works, I can put in the information of the customer as well as the order status etc. but as soon as I want to add a product, there is… an infinite loading spinner. Yesterday and the days before it was possible to create an order. What happened? :/
