    Hi there,

I’ve been facing this problem for a while now and still couldn’t find the reason for it.

When checking out, WooCommerce sometimes returns an error, saying one of the items (mostly it’s variable items with a stock of 1, but it seems not always to be the case) wasn’t available anymore. But the order goes trough though.

As sometimes also the email notifications for new orders are sent twice, I suspect there might be a problem (maybe an Ajax/JS function) that triggers the checkout twice and on the second try an item is not available anymore.

I already deactivated the caching plugin, but it didn’t help unfortunately. Does anyone have any idea what the problem could be?

Also the error only occurs randomly and I couldn’t manage to reproduce it. :-/

    Thanks a lot
    Ben

    Hi there,

With an error that one can’t reliably replicate, it’s tough to say when one has “fixed” it ??

Just to check – are there any template overrides in place?

Hi and thanks for getting back to me so quickly.

Yeah, it’s even harder to find the cause… ??

There are lots of template overrides in general but I couldn’t find any that could cause the problem. Theme is called Uncode.

Typically the templates to focus on would be any that relate to the checkout and thank-you pages, alongside custom coding in the functions.php. If you’re able to find a way to replicate the issue consistently, you’ll want to do a theme conflict test to see if the issue persists when switching to a different theme (e.g. Storefront or TwentyTwenty).

I can’t find any that are related to checkout or thank you pages. Still trying to replicate this error though :-/

Hi @benjamink1984. Have you made any progress with figuring out the issue or have you resolved the problem?

Hi @drwpcom , unfortunately not. Still having the problem every now and then…

Hi @benjamink1984. The intermittent nature of the issue suggests that the issue is with caching or due to a plugin/theme conflict.

You mentioned that you deactivated the caching plugin. For future reference, take a look at our guide here for how to set up caching plugins to work well with WooCommerce. If that doesn’t help, I would recommend conflict testing by following this guide.

Hi @benjamink1984. We haven’t heard from you in a while so I’m going to go ahead and mark this thread as resolved. If you still need help with this issue or have any other questions about the WooCommerce plugin, please start a new thread.
