Checkout page returning Error when user clicks the checkout button
-
Hello,
I’ve been trying to solve this issue for a while now and have made no progress.
I’m very new to WordPress and was hired on to maintain a WordPress site for a school that implements WooCommerce, among other plugins, to sell merchandise and event tickets.
The user can add merchandise or tickets to the cart and go to the checkout page with no issues, but when the user clicks on the submit button to submit the order, whether it’s free or paid, the user receives an error message. On Chrome it is simply a red circle with an exclamation point (!) and on Firefox, in addition to the exclamation point, it returns “500 Internal Server Error”.
The worst part is that their order goes through, despite the front-end error message. If a user tries to resubmit the checkout form, they are charged again for each time the button is clicked. Obviously this is a huge issue when people are being charged multiple times for $95 registration fees.
We do have about 30 other active plugins and I would be happy to provide them if someone thinks they may know what is causing a conflict. It is difficult to test plugins by deactivating them because it is important that the site stays up whenever possible.
If this problem sounds at all familiar to anyone, I would very much appreciate input on what I can do to solve it.
