Checking if users are logged in before upgrading

Before I click on the “upgrade” button in the WordPress dashboard, I sure would like to find a way to check if there are users logged-in to the website, and wait for them to finish, or notify them before going offline for a few minutes. Is there a way to check if users are currently logged-in to the website?
