Checkbox Not Showing Checkmark

Here’s a weird issue. I had a blog hosted on www.remarpro.com.I decided to self-host so i ran the export, then imported into a wordpress instance running on Ubuntu Server 20.04, php 7.4, mysql v8. WordPress version 5.4.2. Works well for the most part but for some reason I cannot see the chec kmarks in checkboxes. For example, under the Categories in a post, I can click on a checkbox, and it will select (or deselect) the category. But the checkmark doesn’t show up. I tried on different browsers (Chrome, Edge), and different machines. I did a WordPress Re-install (from the Dashboard), tried different themes. I can see the categories selected if I go to the All Posts section and look under the Categories column for each post. I have the same issue with checkboxes in the Plugin section, or checkboxes in widgets. So basically any checkbox.

A separate issue, If I go into the Add Themes section, I don’t see the pictures of the themes, just the names.

The Site Health under Tools checks out. I’m thinking perhaps it’s a permission issue somewhere. Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated.
