Hi there, I operate my site with Thrivethemes and Woocommerce. Mailpoet adds a checkbox to the checkout which overlays the text – I saw this on several websites now. Aaaand … the checkbox is pre-checked, which is forbidden by law.
Please, how can I fix that?
BTW how to add a screenshot here … seems not possible. Just saying ??

    TIA

    Farlif

In order for me to understand better. Please send over a screenshot. The checkout box should not be pre-checked.

We have a guide for sending screenshots here: How to Take a Screenshot

Looking forward to hearing back from you.

    Have a great day.

    Hi Ojoma a11n,

thanks for the explanation regarding screenshots, but still, since you didn’t write me an email, I don’t know where to send the screenshot to.
But no problem, screenshot or not, this is not the point. It’s just that in your guide to support here in the forum it says we should provide screenshots. Which is not possible here. Okay.
Back to the topic. Since a screenshot is not possible, may I ask you to look into the problematic page yourself?
The way to reach the page goes over several steps. Please visit aufatmen.me/coaching/preise, click on one of the buttons with the text “Jetzt buchen” – you will be transported to the cart, and from there please go to the checkout (“Weiter zur Kasse”). Of course you should stop there, so that you don’t buy something by accident.
On that page, “kasse” on the right side under the block “Zahlungsm?glichkeiten”, the first checkbox is yours (and you’re right, it’s not pre-checked). The sentence should read “Ich m?chte …” etc. The “Ich” is hidden under the checkbox itself, because it’s placed there by “position:absolute;”. That’s the error which I refer to.
    Thank you!

    Hi @farlif,

Mailpoet adds a checkbox to the checkout which overlays the text – I saw this on several websites now. Aaaand … the checkbox is pre-checked, which is forbidden by law.

First, I would like to clarify that the checkbox SHOULD NOT be pre-checked by default if you have never checked it previously.

What happens is that if you’re already added to the WooCommerce Customers list as “Subscribed” and you’re logged when testing the checkout process, this checkbox will appear as checked for you because you’ve already been subscribed to it. Does it make sense? However, for new users, this should not be the default behavior.

I just checked your website, and I can confirm the checkbox IS NOT pre-checked for me.

I’m sharing the screenshot here: https://monosnap.com/file/nrfgjRv7Ni6bhdpdRV4LLbkaf8d5OU

I also do not see the text overlaying the checkbox. Can you please confirm you’re referring to the desktop version (and not the mobile)?

Thanks for the answer! The overlay happens both on desktop and mobile. My workaround was to start the text with three asterisks – which are overlayed now -, so that it looks like everything was okay.

    That’s isn’t expected indeed.

I couldn’t reproduce this on my website. I believe this is a conflict with a theme or plugin. If you’d like to investigate this further I’d recommend doing a conflict test as per these instructions:
