Check to subscribe in Register Form?

I’d like to add a checkbox to my custom registration forms that subscribes the user to certain lists depending on the form. Can I do this? I understand I can make forms with Rainmaker and stuff but I just want a simple checkbox opt-in for subscribing to my lists.
