    Hi,

i have got a shop which has 8k imported products. some products are categorised in a subcategory but not in the parent category.

is there any possibility to do this in bulk? e.g. in database or functions.php

great would be if i select a subcategory the parent is automatically checked for future products.

    Hi @gluehbirne,

I understand you have a lot of imported products, and some of them aren’t categorized under child and parent categories and you’d like to achieve this in bulk. There are a few approaches you can take for this:

    1) You can export your products and edit the CSV to make sure to include the parent and child categories; for instance, I’ve exported a specific parent/child category to exemplify what you’d see and what you should do:

This is how you’d see the parent and child categories, you’d need to edit your sheet to make sure the products include both the parent and child, a quick excel formula can do this for you.

    2) You can consider an extension like Bulk Category Editor for WooCommerce:

Bulk Category Editor?enables you to add, update and delete categories in bulk. Set, add and remove categories on products. Use the included product filters such as categories, attributes and search. And also to export and import categories.

Keep in mind, if you want to try our products, you can leverage our 30-day refund policy. In a nutshell, it gives you 30 days to try it out, and if the product doesn’t work the way you need or you think another product would work better, we are more than happy to offer a full refund. You’ll find the details of [our refund policy here](https://woocommerce.com/refund-policy/).

    3) You could try this over SQL, but this is a bit more advanced. I’d suggest hiring an expert to proceed with this one if you’d like to try it. You can also seek help from the following:

    I hope this helps!
