• I rely heavily on iframe content as I share music via the Soundcloud iframe widget on my site. I want to give the best service by only providing working Soundcloud widgets; is it possible to check your site to see if the iframes you have embedded in your posts are dead / no longer working?

  • There are programmatic processes that can be used to discover if an object or embed is no longer available…question is, what would you like to occur if the link is gone, content changed, etc? Would you then point to a different one? Which one? How would we know which one to use? Since we would then need in all likelihood to then edit site content due to a now unavailable item, we should review our sites and make sure all is working and remove what is not asap or replace with (as noted above) another…and remember that those hosting embeds are under no responsibility to keep live forever…as if quite often the case…

Thanks for the response. My site consists of 3 main areas, my content, public content (mixes we found from Soundcloud etc, embed via iframe) and user submitted content (which again will use Soundcloud). I can guarantee my iframe content to stay up but the latter will need checking regularly.

If I was to discover a dead iframe I would update the post to advise that this content is no longer available. I have a disclaimer on my site to advise users that I do not own or control all the content we share.

How would I find the dead embed iframe content on my site so I can update my visitors?

Admin Dashboard>Posts>All Posts>enter “iframe” (no quotes) in search box>Search>edit post in list>repeat….

Admin Dashboard>Posts>All Posts>enter “embed” (no quotes) in search box>Search>edit post in list>repeat….

Admin Dashboard>Posts>All Posts>enter “object” (no quotes) in search box>Search>edit post in list>repeat….

    etc…

There is a plugin that seems well used that checks broken links from major services….not sure it supports soundcloud:
