    Hi all,

I have a major problem with a WordPress multisite install that may have been caused by the installation of a theme but I don’t know.

The problem is that any time a site admin of a subsite on the network tries to save changes made in the theme customiser they get the error message “Cheating are we? you are not allowed to customise this site.”

Even I as super admin get the same error when I log into their site as super admin and try to make changes in the customiser. Strangely the networks main site is unaffected but every sub site is.

The problem arose after I installed MH Magazine Lite theme and the MH Food Magazine child theme and activated it on a single sub site. I have since completely removed these themes from the network however the problem persists. Yes I have sent a support request to the theme developer, just waiting for a response.

My research so far on the issue has only shown up many people having the issue and no clear solution so if anyone out there might be able to help it would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks in advance.

  • Hi Entertheraptor,

your issue hasn’t been caused by your WordPress theme. You’ve already verified this by deleting the themes in question and your issue still occurs.

What you’re facing actually is a common WordPress issue, which usually is related to insufficient permissions, misconfigurations or interferring plugins on your site.

When you Google the issue, you’ll find tons of threads and solutions about this. There is no general answer and you would need to troubleshoot this and try the particular solutions to find the culprit on your site.

For example you could try to disable your plugins and check again. If your site is cached, you also should clear the cache, etc…

Hi and thanks for the prompt reply MH Themes.

You may well be right with everything you said. At the end of the day I don’t know what caused the problem in the first place but it was eventually resolved by deleting all of the cookies associated with my network from my browser. This of course was after I had deleted several themes and deactivated various plugins so it is impossible to say which was the culprit (if any).

Yes a odd little error, bug, issue, whatever but problem now solved. Thanks again for your input. Keep up the good work ??

You’re very welcome and good luck with your website.
