Cheatin’ uh?

  • WP – 4.0
    All of a sudden while working on my site i’m getting the Cheatin’ uh? page when tring to use the Theme customize feature. I can see the customize page try to load and THEN Cheatin’ uh? !!!

    It does not matter what theme is active.

    I was not installing any new themes, plug-ins or updating anything, just working with look and feel.

    I’ve looked around and not found a solution yet. This issues has been around since WP 3.2

    Any Ideas? Thanks

    Are you logged in as an Administrator?

    If so, it sounds like your account may have lost admin privileges for some reason.

    If you are not using Multisite, access your database via phpMyAdmin (most hosting providers offer this in their control panel), go to the wp_users table and find the row for your user_login . Note the ID of this row. Now, go to the wp_usermeta table and find the wp_capabilities row for your user_id . Set the value of this row to:

    a:1:{s:13:"administrator";b:1;}

    Yes I’m logged in as administrator.
    I’m able to edit the theme Options and Add a new user as an Admin. I logged in as the new user and still was not able to access the Theme Customize page.

    I check the DB and the value is set as you posted.

    I’m still at a loss as to how to fix this. Why one function works and another doesn’t, I don’t know.

    I’ve been fighting with WP for three month trouble shooting BS like this, it’s driving me nuts
