• Hi, Rudder
I have installed and activated your plugin but it doesnt show in admin panel and groups (no tab). What could be the problem, in your opinion?
Your other plugin WordPress Video Chat, which has the same technology, seems to work without problem (I have installed the two plugins two days ago). Thanks in advance.

    WordPress 4.2.2
    BuddyPress 2.3.2.1
    Theme: FirmaSite 1.5.0.1

    Hello Georg,

You need enable this on your BuddyPress groups settings,
You go to groups then select your chosen group, Then to manage,
You’ll see *Group chat* there, Just click to enable and then save,
Then you’ll see the group chat tab on the group,
You can enable/disable for each group.

I saw your screenshot. I dont have *Group chat* in that area. There is nothing related to a chat in my groups. I tested also with the theme twenty fifteen. Nothing.

Well, before discovering the problem I had updated Buddypress to 2.3.2.1

I now see that the smileys of the other plugin WordPress Video Chat dont work (if that helps).

Maybe the two plugins are not fully compatible with the new version of Buddypress.

    Hello Georg,

They’re both fully compatible with BuddyPress and will not conflict at all with each other,
I’ve also not turned off the smiley’s, I control them externally, So I don’t know what is happening there,
The only issue I’d see is with the WordPress theme you’re using,
I’ll test with that theme on a blank site to see if I can replicate the error.

    Hello Georg,

I have no issues on the theme *twenty fifteen*
I did have to update the menu in appearance though to get the menu to show up,
That was all and even that is on the side panel, You’ll just have to add the tabs you want to see,
here mine after update of the menus,
Update your primary menu in the wp-admin area then test again,
That’s the only thing I can suggest.

I dont understand. What’s the relation with the primary menu? I see nothing in my Appearance>Menus. That is I dont see an element for groupchat that I could add to the menu. Is groupchat supposed to have an entry there? I have updated the menus, but as expected, nothing changed, since there is no entry for groupchat. Do you suggest creating a page and with which shortcode ?

PS Well I see on your screenshot that there is an entry “Test Chat” in your primary menu and I dont really understand. If such an entry is visible on the menubar of my site, what is it supposed to do when clicking by a user?

You’re suppose to have groups on your navigation area,
You enable the chat within a group,
It will show on a groups navigation under manage,
FYI my nav bar on my image has nothing to do with groups,
It is a test site which I test my other plugins etc,
Group chat is for Groups, so it will not show up on the primary menu,
Groups is what you need on your primary menu, from there create a group and then enable the group chat within the groups settings.

Of course I have Groups on my primary menu; I have already posted a screenshot of the nav bar of a group. There is nothing related to Group chat.

Well, if you see *Group chat* using the theme *twenty fiftheen* while I see nothing when testing with the same theme, that means that I have a problem with my system (maybe a conflict with another plugin). I will try to find the issue. Thanks for the time you have spent trying to help me.

Well as you’re speaking in English you’ve assumed I’m English but expected to read French, I don’t so that could that picture means nothing to me,
There is a way to speak to people without sounding like you’re angry,
I can see you have an issue and I’ve suggested things to do,
I’ve tested this on hundreds of themes and Alpha/Beta versions of both WordPress and BuddyPress with multiple plugins too,
I’ve not once come across an error that you describe nor as any other user,
The only other thing I can suggest is you deactivate the plugin, unistall it and reinstall but don’t activate, edit the chat-core.php code
    You’ll see ` $this->create_step_position = 48;
    $this->nav_item_position = 83; `
Change the numbers to another value, higher is better,
Once you’ve edited it then save then activate the plugin that may work then if there’s a conflict with nav item position from another plugin, but it’s highly unlikely,
I hope that helps, If not then if you could give me access to your blog I’ll test and come up with a solution that way.

    Regards,

    Rudder.

Oh, no I am not angry. I thanked you for the time you spent and I accepted that the problem may be with my system. There are already 300+ active installations with your plugin which means that it works. If it doesnt work for me I have to find the issue in my configuration.
Your last suggestion to change the values 48 and 83 didnt give results. I will see the whole thing when I have more time.

PS You are not supposed to know french; that is why I translated all the difficult words in english on the screenshot. It is obvious that there is no *Group chat* there.

    Have a nice weekend

    Update
I have installed BuddyPress Group TinyChat by Van dat and it worked out of the box, so I will continue with it.
I am posting this update as a feedback in case you want to examine more deeply this problem for your own purpose.
For me the problem is resolved and you can close the topic. Thanks again for your time.

You didn’t need to create another account to post irrelevant issues,
Nice try though, I’ll point this out to WordPress moderation so they can remove this support question as it’s in the same league as spam.

    Adios.

I dont know what you are talking about. I dont have another account here and I dont waste my time spamming people. Why should I do that? Your plugin is totally free while the other guy charges for premium features.
Why are you so egoist and dont accept that your plugin may not work on some installations? Do you know my config and my other plugins? No. There is probably a conflict, I dont know. I never said your plugin is bad, I just said that it doesnt work in MY OWN SYSTEM.

I saw that communicating with you was difficult, since you couldnt even understand a simple screenshot (where all the difficult words were translated in english) but I couldnt imagine you would call me a spammer. My crime is that your plugin doesnt work in my installation. You are a bad loser, man, and I lost my time with you.

I call the moderators to verify, with any method they know, if I have another account. I invest my time in developing my startup not to spam unknown people.

I have looked over the information in the forums and I do not see anything to indicate what you are accusing this user of is true.
