    Suddenly all mails that are sent are unreadable because they show chinese/japanese characters. It doesn’t matter if it’s a contact form, or the test email from the plugin. They all show these characters.

    What I notice in the transcript is that the charset has changed suddenly since yesterday.
    Emails that were ok:
    Content-Type: text/plain; charset=UTF-8
    Emails that are not ok:
    Content-Type: text/plain; charset=UTF-16
    I’m thinking that could be the cause of the weird characters.

    Do you have any idea what could be the cause of this change, or where to set it back to utf-8?

    It’s solved. Appearently an update of the EventOn plugin caused this issue.
    They have resolved this in the latest update, so it had nothing to do with this plugin.
