Charges per API request get expensive

  • The basic idea behind this plug-in and service is good, but the implementation is poor. Perhaps if the plugin cached data locally, that would speed up quotes and reduce the API charges.

    Thanks for the feedback.

    We actually do cache tax lookup results locally to the extent possible, but unfortunately completely performing the tax calculations on site is not an option. This is because (a) TaxCloud doesn’t expose any APIs to retrieve the required tax data, and (b) that’s too simplistic of an approach to get an accurate tax calculation in many cases. This is why the TaxCloud APIs exist in the first place. Anyways thanks for trying out Simple Sales Tax!
