    Hello all
I’m currently in the process of switching hosting for a client. Her original site was in Vietnamese. I exported all her posts with WordPress’s exporting option in admin panel. When I imported the generated XML file on her new site, a lot of characters turned into question marks (?).
For a better understanding, take a look here:
    This is the original site:
This is the site I’m trying to migrate the posts to, with the screwed up characters:
Both WordPress installations were UTF-8, so I don’t think it’s an encoding problem. Does anyone here have any idea how I can do a proper import?

You might want to check the encoding scheme of the new database and make sure it matches the old site.

I already did that, they are identical. Both databases have utf8 as charset, and their connection collation is utf8_general_ci
    Any other idea?

I’m at a loss if everything is properly set. Did you happen to open the XML export in any sort of editor and make changes and then save? Thats the only other thing I could think of that could be messing with the encoding.

Sorry for late reply, I’ve been preoccupied with another project.
Back to the topic, no I have not opened the XML in anyway, I immediately imported it to my new WordPress installation after I exported it from the other side.
Is there another way to clone the site, my other host will expire in 3 days so I have gotta move it one way or anoher.
