Characters do not show when i am making a new post

Have you tried:

– deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem? If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

– switching to the default theme to rule out any theme-related problems?

– resetting the plugins folder by FTP or phpMyAdmin? Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

– re-uploading the wp-admin and wp-includes folders from a fresh download of WordPress?

Have tried all the suggested methods. It still does not work.
However I have been pasting text from word documents and these do show if the save or update button is used. But any editing is still a problem

I also cannot drag widgets, the editing options are not available

Solved the problem by installing the Dean’s FCKEditor For WordPress plug in. this replaces the Word Press editor which seemed to be the root cause of the problem.
