Char-set Problem- The Newsletter Plugin Char-set Incompatible With AmazonSES
-
Greetings to the newsletter plugin support.
I want to alert you about an incompatibility issue of this plugin with amazon ses service.
The issue is that of “message character set type”
I have been consistently sending emails from newsletter through amazonses smtp server without knowing that the charset does not meet the requirement of amazonses.
The newsletter plugin uses a character encoding of charset=UTF-8
But amazonses has this instruction in their acceptable use policy:
“The SMTP protocol requires that all data be sent in 7-bit ASCII format. If you want to use a different character encoding with the Amazon SES SMTP interface, you will need to apply your desired encoding to your subject and body, and then convert them to a valid 7-bit ASCII message before sending it to the SMTP endpoint.”
Sadly, amazonses has suspended my smtp account before I found out this incompatibility issue. My amazonses account is currently in suspension mode due to using unallowed char-set in my messages.
Amazon does not accept any encoding that is different from “7-bit ASCII “.
I wish to make an urgent feature request- to create optional character encoding choices in the newsletter settings, and specifically include “7-bit ASCII” option.
Kindly respond to this message as soon as possible, thanks.
