I am back with this one. A user complained that the chapters do not flow successively as was the case with the previous fanfiction archive.

I went back to square one. I went to the demo to view the screen shots and the video.
    1. I created a taxonomy for books and a taxonomy for chapters.
    2. When I checked “Content in a term of this taxonomy can be ordered manually” I get an empty drop down menu. The option to go to the next chapter is not there.
    3. When I uncheck this box, the chapter numbers appears, but they are not linked and the readers are complaining, especially for long books.

    What am I missing?

Do you have EXCLUSIVE checked off?

    Did you Limit to …. 1 ?

Are you saying I should limit to one or I should not limit to one?

    This is what I have:
Access blank Only admins and editors can add terms to this taxonomy
Exclusive X Terms in this taxonomy are exclusively owned by an author
Serial X Content in a term of this taxonomy can be ordered manually
Required X At least one term is required to be set by the author
Limit to Blank term(s) per content (leave blank or 0 for unlimited)

Q: Is there supposed to be a link at the end of a chapter for the next chapter the way it worked with the previous archive?
Q: Is the drop down menu supposed to list all of the chapters as was the case with the previous archive?

    Remove:
Exclusive X Terms in this taxonomy are exclusively owned by an author
Serial X Content in a term of this taxonomy can be ordered manually
    Limit to 1

A: No link at the end of a chapter. Instead there is a drop down between chapters.

A: Yes, and it will once you fix the settings above. You can see at
    https://fanfic.wpwriteshare.com/fanfic/in-the-beginning/
    that it does just that.

Now she says she cannot post at all. It says, “array is not owned by you.”

I will try your corrections and report back.
Update: it did not work. I checked the boxes as instructed and selected 1.

I also did a test. When I tried to post a chapter. The title did not show up as it did before. This is very frustrating. I have the title listed in the book section on the back end.

Q: Do I need to add the chapter by numbers on the back end, or will the authors do this when they post?

I am just recruiting authors. I don’t want to lose them. Your prompt response is appreciated.

I believe the array issue is a host or wordpress issue. It has been resolved. The issue with the drop down menu remains.

I made the changes you requested. It is still not working correctly.
Q: Do I need to set up the chapters in advance or does the author do this?
Currently, I am using code to link the chapters because the drop down menus is not functional.

Q: Should I check any boxes for the book taxonomy?

Q: Is there a place where I can see a screenshot for the fanfiction backend settings?

    I found a screenshot here.
    https://wpwriteshare.com/setup-instructions/fanfic-setup/
It differs from your instructions in this thread. The instructions here work better, but the drop down menu shows only one chapter.
