Changing WP site to a new domain

This may be far more trouble than it is worth, but our nonprofit organization is wanting to change our website from a .org to a .space suffix. The website runs on the most recent version of WordPress and has several hundred posts and several thousand image files already on it.

Is it possible to make this change and not have it be a major headache? Or should we leave it as is, and go with domain forwarding instead should we decide to utilize the other suffix in marketing materials?
